Connecting People to Christ

Connect With God

"But like the Holy One who called you,

be holy yourselves in all your conduct

[be set apart from the world by your godly character

and moral courage]."

1 PETER 1:15
THE DIVINE IN THE DAILY

The word holy refers to separation, to being entirely different and apart from that which is common.  It's no surprise, then, that holy is the word used most often in Scripture to describe God.

Holiness speaks of God's very nature; it is the elemental characteristic from which all His other qualities emanate.  God's holiness evokes awe, reverence, and fear.  The word speaks to the majesty and mystery of God, who reigns totally above all creation.  Holiness also speaks of God's perfection.

Believers are called to be holy, to belong entirely to God, and, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to reflect His nature.  Holiness is the dynamic expression of the divine in our daily will and live consecrated lives that reveal His moral character.

So never tolerate, justify, or excuse that which draws you away from God.  After all, the Almighty did not send his beloved Son to die for your happiness, prosperity, or health, but for your holiness.
