24-Hour Prayer Chain
Our HOURLY PRAYER CHAIN begins from 12 midnight every first Friday of the month.
Prayer is vital if a church wants to see revival, and that is our earnest prayer, that God revive us. What is revival? “Re”….again; “viva”….life. Or to bring something to life again. Revival starts in the individual and then spreads to a church or community. So for our monthly Friday prayer we will this year be focusing on first getting our own hearts and lives in order, on allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to us, to change us, to challenge us, to revive us so we can be an instrument in God's hands to bring revival.
Our focus will be on 2 Chronicles 7:14.
SEPTEMBER. "...and will forgive their sin…"
2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
How many people do you who attend church Sunday after Sunday and have never experienced the joy of knowing their sins are forgiven? How many have never experienced peace with God but only know God as some distant figure who is judging them and needs to be appeased? How tragic!
Why do we remain silent and never tell them about this amazing God we know and the wonderful peace and joy we have?
We were all unworthy of God's grace, yet in spite of that He chose us, forgave us, cleansed us, freed us, redeemed us and transformed our lives!
Romans 5:8 Message
We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.
God forgave You. He is always willing to forgive you. We only have to repent to receive His forgiveness. At Calvary He paid the price for every sin we ever committed and for every sin we would commit in the future- no matter how big or how small we think our sins are. Often we put sins into categories…..little sin, (lies) middle size sin (stealing) and big bad sins (murder).
But look what the Apostle John wrote ….
Revelation 21:8 NLT. “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars-their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."
He placed all these sins together and said they would be judged by God.
We can point the finger at murderers and see them as deserving hell, but what about unbelievers and liars? Sin is sin….there are no good sins, no white lies. Before a Holy God, the bible says, there is no one who is righteous.
This is why we need to ask God to show us our sins so we can repent. The Holy Spirit is the only one who can reveal what is inside of us. He can reveal sins of pride, jealousy, anger, covetousness, unbelief, unforgiveness, bitterness etc. All can be “washed away” by the blood of Jesus.
Psalm 103:8-12 NLT
The LORD is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.
V. 13,14. The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust.
V.8. Unfailing: Meaning lasting forever, having no beginning and no end, continuing without interruption, without error or fault, dependable, sure.
What is the picture you get of God here? A wonderful Father who loves His children dearly and is willing to forgive and forget over and over again? And He remembers how he created us….from the dust of earth, frail and insignificant but worth the death of His only Son.
This poem expresses it well.
We may sound the depths of all the mighty oceans;
We may tell the distance to the farthest star.
But the mighty love of God cannot be measured.
Its dimensions are so high, so deep, so far!
This love is mine, I cannot comprehend it!
This love revealed through Christ, my Lord divine.
When on the tree He died for me.
God's wondrous, glorious, mighty love,
This love is mine.
I behold His love in every golden sunset;
I can see it in the beauty of a flower!
And I feel it in my heart since Jesus touched me,
And redeemed me by His wonder-working power
And some day "I'll thank Him face to face in glory
When with all the millions at His feet I fall.
And through countless ages there I'll live rejoicing
Sing forever at the wonder of it all!
Reading: 1 John 2:1-17
Romans 8:35. Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love?
…I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Sing your own song to the Lord. Sing with the spirit and sing with the understanding.
Praise and thank Him for sins forgiven and peace with God….all because of Calvary.
